Federal Pacific Stab-Lok
These panels have a documented history of breakers that fail to trip on an overload, which leaves the fault energized instead of shutting it off.
Zinsco
The bus bar aluminum can melt to the breaker, so the breaker looks fine but can no longer trip and disconnect the circuit.
Challenger
Known for overheating breaker connections and failures at the bus, and many are now well past any reasonable service life.
Sylvania
Some Sylvania panels share the Zinsco design and the same breaker-to-bus failure mode.

How long will my power be off?
For a straightforward replacement, power is typically out for part of the day while the utility disconnects, we swap the panel, and the utility reconnects. Jobs that also involve the meter base or service entrance can run longer. We tell you the expected window before the day of the work.
Do you pull the permit?
Yes. The permit and the city inspection are included in the quote. We schedule the inspection and meet the inspector.
Will my insurance company accept the replacement?
Carriers generally want documentation that the old panel is gone and that the new work passed a city inspection. We give you the permit and inspection records so you can send them to your agent. What each carrier does with that is up to the carrier.
Do I need 200 amps?
It depends on the actual load – square footage, HVAC, electric appliances, an EV charger, a pool, or a shop. We run a load calculation during the free inspection and tell you what the house genuinely needs rather than defaulting to the bigger number.
Will you fix the meter base too?
We can, and on older homes it's often part of the job. Whether it's required depends on its condition and on what the utility and the inspector will accept. If it's needed, it's in the written quote up front, not added later.
What if the inspector finds other issues?
We flag anything we can see during the inspection so it's priced in from the start. If an inspector requires something that was hidden behind a wall or inside old equipment, we show you what it is and what it costs before doing the work.
Can you do this before my closing date?
